Practice your speech more than once after you memorize it. You'll get smoother at your speech by practicing it often. You can also practice good breathing techniques as you speak. Ensure your speech allows for interruptions, such as applause. Try to practice using the equipment at the location where you will be delivering your speech.

Know what type of audience you will be talking to. If you can, learn more about audience members. If possible, greet them as the enter the room and ask their names. This will give the event a more personal atmosphere.

Focus on telling true stories to help improve your public speaking. Prior to your speaking occasion, make an outline of the tale. It should have a beginning, middle, and ending that is clear so that you get your ideas out better. Be sure the story is true so your words appear natural and authentic.

Get to know the room in which you are going to speak publicly. Determine if your voice will carry well without a microphone. Practice using any equipment you need so that you know how it works. Learn how you can use any of the visual aids if they are present. Figure out to make eye contact with those in the audience.

Practice your speech as much as you possibly can. Try practicing before a mirror or recording your speech to revise and spot areas in need of improvement. Also, get feedback from friends by practicing your speech for them.
